Description
GenNotch 4000 Series – Dual-Chamber Motorized Charpy & Izod Specimen Notching / Broaching Machine
Overview
The GenNotch 4000 Series is a floor-mounted, self-contained dual-chamber motorized broaching / notching machine
engineered specifically for preparing Charpy impact test notch specimens. Built for speed, consistency, and long-term reliability,
it delivers high-quality V- and U-type notches that match the sample quality typically associated with milling-machine preparation.
Built for Charpy & Izod V & U Notches
GenNotch 4000 is designed for cutting Charpy and Izod V-type and U-type notches according to the latest industry standards. The system supports common notch geometries used in metals impact testing and helps laboratories achieve repeatable, standards-aligned specimen prep without the variability often introduced by manual processes.
Dual-Chamber Productivity
Unlike single-station systems, GenNotch 4000 uses a dual broaching system to prepare two specimens in one cycle. This approach reduces cycle time and increases throughput—especially valuable for production QA environments, test labs running high sample volumes, and R&D programs that require consistent notch geometry across multiple batches.
Accuracy, Repeatability & User-Friendly Operation
The unit is equipped with a user-friendly interface designed to simplify day-to-day operation. The motorized broaching workflow provides exceptional accuracy and repeatability from specimen to specimen, helping maintain consistent results and minimizing rework due to notch quality issues.
Tooling: Notching & Broaching Knives
GenNotch 4000 uses state-of-the-art broaching knives that can be selected based on your preferred specimen preparation requirements (V or U types). Precision-ground knives manufactured to meet ASTM E23 requirements are available as spare parts and consumables. Tooling is designed for performance and long service life across a wide hardness range, and many knife sets are cross-compatible with other systems.
Important: While knives may be cross-compatible, we recommend confirming tooling compatibility with a technical consultant to ensure
correct selection and optimal performance for your specific application.
